Lake Dobczyce and Dobczyce Castle

Lake Dobczyce was formed after a dam was built on the River Raba in Dobczyce. Above the water, on a high hill, stand the ruins of a medieval castle – one of the finest viewpoints in the area, just 25 minutes from Bysina.

19 km · approx. 25 min from Bysina

What’s worth seeing

Dobczyce Castle

Castle ruins on a hill above the lake, with a small open-air museum of folk architecture nearby.

Views over the lake

From the castle walls and around the dam you can see the whole lake and the surrounding hills.

Walking and cycling

Paths around the reservoir and the nearby hills – for an hour or for half a day.

Good to know

  • The lake is a source of drinking water for Kraków, so there are no bathing spots and use of the water is restricted.
  • The trip is easy to combine with a walk around Myślenice and the Zarabie area on the River Raba.
